Presentation Details

Thank you for your participation in the MPIC and for sharing your research with others in our specialized field. We sincerely look forward to hearing about your work and passions. All attendees, including speakers, must register by completing the online Registration Form.

Scientific Session Presentation Details: The Scientific Session will be held on Monday, May 16th & Tuesday, May 17th, 2016. This session is designed to share the outstanding research that is conducted at neighboring universities in the Midwest and Big Ten conference. Speakers will have 25 minutes to present, which includes time for setup and questions.

Scientific Speaker Presentation Title Submission: Please have your presentation title submitted to Justin Jeffery (jjjeffery@wisc.edu) no later than Friday, April 1st, 2016 to ensure your title is include in the agenda booklet handout.

Scientific Speaker PowerPoint Submission: Upload your PowerPoint presentation HERE by Friday, May 13th, 2016. You can also email your presentation directly to Justin Jeffery (jjjeffery@wisc.edu). Presentations will not be shared or distributed. PowerPoint submission is requested in order to minimize down-time between speakers.

HSLC 1306 Lecture Hall: The lecture hall is equipped with state-of-the-art presentation technology. There are dual projectors, integrated audio and lighting with touch control panel, a Windows PC available with up-to-date video codecs and video players (Windows Media Player, VLC media player) to host presentations, and an adapter ring to present from your own laptop with the following connections: VGA, DVI, Standard HDMI, Mini HDMI, micro HDMI, and Mini Display Port. Facilities Session Presentation Details: Facility Speakers do not have to submit presentation materials. The Facilities Session will be held on Sunday, May 15th, 2016 in the HSLC, room 1345. Only invited Facility Speakers, Facility Directors, Managers, and Technicians will be in attendance for the Facility Session presentations. Scientific Speakers who are not also Facility Speakers will join for the 6:30 pm Facility Tour and the 7:00 pm Dinner/Social at the UW Health Sciences Learning Center (HSLC).

One representative from each location will present on behalf of their facility. This session is designed for the imaging facility personnel to share their lab’s general operational details, including their successes and challenges. The overall goal of this session is to learn from each facility’s operations in order to improve upon our own facilities and to establish rapport with those who share similar professional interests and goals.

The speaker from each location for the Facilities Session can be the Director or Manager. The Scientific Session speaker from each facility can also be the Facility Session speaker. Speakers will have 10 minutes to introduce their facility and discuss the facility’s overall workflow. The following are some topics that would be helpful to include in the facility introduction: history of the facility, available equipment, services, self-service or full-service, available analysis service or training, subsidies, oversight committee, IT support, data sharing with users, any QA/QC program, advertisement, funding for pilot projects, any in-house projects to improve methods, challenges, and successes. Any additional information that makes your facility unique or that can benefit other labs would be ideal to share.
